Prayer, the last refuge of a scoundrel

"Rocky Twyman says nothing else has worked, so he's urging motorists to pray for lower gasoline prices when they fuel up.
Twyman says he and his fellow volunteers at a church soup kitchen launched "Pray at the Pump" today at a gas station in Washington D.C.
After fueling up their cars, Twyman says they bowed their heads and asked God for cheaper gas.
There was no immediate answer, but he says other motorists joined in and the service station owner didn't run them off.
Twyman says that if God brought down the walls of Jericho when the ancient Hebrews prayed, then divine intervention can bring down gas prices too."

And someone should do something about the fact that I'm fat

Next can we pray that the price of Heroine goes down?

It takes pain to break an addiction. I hope it continues to go up despite how it is changing my life. I don't like having to weigh whether or not each specific trip in my car is worth making, but I'm glad that the inconveinence is making me be more mindful of how much gas I use.

What if God is compassionately forcing our hand to get us to be better environmental stewards and seek alternative ways of making power?

Trouble is all those Middle Easterners, Venezuelans and Russian Orthodox praying away that the price of oil goes up.

I'm not even buying into the part about god helping the Hebrews do something bad to Jericho.
